The aim of the invention lies in improving the machined surfaces of a cutting insert for milling which has minor cutting edges for furrowing. A minor cutting edge (3) provided in a corner has two arcuate cutting edge portions (3a, 3a) continuous with the main cutting blade (2), and a linear cutting edge portion (3b) arranged between the two arcuate cutting edge portions. When the cutting insert is viewed in the thickness direction, the conditions 0.05 TA <= L1 <= 0.4 TA, 0.1 L1 <= L <= 0.5 L1, and h <= 15 mum are satisfied where TA is the radius of an inscribed circle for each main cutting edge, L1 is the length of a minor cutting edge (3) in the longitudinal direction of the linear cutting edge portion, L is the length of the linear cutting edge portion (3b), and h is the height of the minor cutting edge (3). |
