<p>PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a body gesture is provided to maintain an excellent recognition rate, and to exclude a meaningless gesture, and to perform a gesture recognition successively by not having a delay generated when a gesture recognition is performed after a gesture division. CONSTITUTION: A body gesture recognition method comprises the following steps: a step (S19) aims to obtain a depth image of a body posture; a step (S20) aims to estimate a body model from a depth image data of an obtained body; a fundamental body model encoding step (S30) aims to generate a code by quantizing a motion of a body model temporally and spatially; and a step (S40) aims to recognize a gesture simultaneously from a selectively and un-simultaneously multiple input by using a parallel state machine with the obtained code.
