PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an information providing method capable of providing commodity information closer to the needs of each user.SOLUTION: A purchase information storage 106 stores information on commodities purchased by users, images of faces of the users and operation information. A main customer estimation section 107 generates face images of main customers for each commodity by using the stored information. A commodity information storage 108 stores face images of the main customers while associating with the commodity information. A face image extraction section 102 extracts a face image of a person included in an image taken by an image input section 101. An image matching and commodity information selection section 103 performs matching between the extracted face image and the face images of the main customers stored in the commodity information storage 108 and displays the commodity information associated with the face images of the main customers having a high similarity level with the extracted face images on a display section 104. |
