PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device that efficiently updates and displays map information.SOLUTION: A map display device 110 displays map information by performing the following steps: when it is determined that block names of a plurality of blocks that are selected on the basis of position information received from a GPS position information providing device 200 are not included in block names that are stored in a travel history table 112 or when dates and times at which the block names are stored are not within a predetermined time, the versions of the determined blocks are obtained from an image data table 111; and image data in units of blocks for the obtained versions is obtained from a map information providing device 300 and is stored in the image data table 111.
