PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sand compaction pile that is free from an adverse influence such as a crack, a roll and subsidence on peripheral structures, a structure directly lying on the sand compaction pile and a road for a long period of time while maintaining an effect of compacting the peripheral ground by utilizing expansibility of steel slag.SOLUTION: In a sand compaction pile 10 constituted of particulate materials 11A and 12A having two layers of an upper layer 11 and a lower layer 12, the upper layer 11 is constructed with the material 11A having small volume expansion characteristics so as to satisfy the following expression (1) while the lower layer 12 is being constructed with the steel slag 12A. L1≥2.5/&rgr;×D(1), where L1: a length of the upper layer 11 in a depth direction (m), &rgr;: particle density of the material 11A of the upper layer 11 (t/m) and D: a diameter of the sand compaction pile 10 (m). |
