PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having an optical sensor element efficiently converting light into an electric signal.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 incorporates an optical sensor element 20 for detecting a position of an object. The optical sensor element 20 comprises: an insulating layer 25; a photonic crystal structure 24 covered with the insulating layer 25, and configured by arranging a plurality of columnar dielectric rods 26 having a refractive index different from that of the insulating layer 25; an i-type semiconductor 23b arranged below the photonic crystal structure 24; an insulating layer 22 on which the i-type semiconductor 23 is laminated; and a light-shielding layer on which the insulating layer 22 is laminated.
