Provided is a failure detection device (5) for detecting for a failure of a bypass diode in at least one solar cell string (130) that comprises solar cells and at least one bypass diode connected in parallel to the solar cells and that is currently disconnected from a load, said failure detection device (5) comprising: a current source circuit (51) for supplying a current having a predetermined current value from a negative terminal of the solar cell string (130) toward a positive terminal; a voltage measurement unit (52) for measuring a voltage difference between the negative terminal and the positive terminal of the solar cell string (130) when the current is supplied by the current source circuit (51); and a control/determination unit (53) for determining whether or not the bypass diode has failed on the basis of the voltage difference measured by the voltage measurement unit (52). |
