The trap (1) has a shell section arranged on a flat side of a base plate and aligned perpendicular to the base plate. A snap trap (3) is arranged on the base plate and inside the shell section. The shell section comprises a cutout that is aligned relative to a bait such that the bait is accessible by the cutout for a small animal. The base plate is formed of a circular disk. The shell section is provided with two retaining springs (4). A rigid or foldable handle is arranged at the shell portion that faces away from a flat side of the base plate. An independent claim is also included for an assembly device for a snap trap.
