Friction clutch

The friction clutch comprises a wear adjusting device (20) co-operating with an actuating lever portion (30) of a wear indicator (28). When adjustment is not required the wear indicator is located in an axial direction by frictional clamping engagement of the actuating lever portion on pressure plate (16), thereby providing easy assembly. This engagement is caused by an opposing action of first and second springs (42),48) which tilt the actuating portion in relation to axis A, thereby causing pin (34), fixed in the pressure plate, to contact first opening (38) in actuating lever portion. The actuating lever portion has an axial stop portion (32) which co-operates with a flywheel (12). Adjustment device (20) comprises two ring elements (24,26) which engage one another axially and have on their engaging faces complimentary inclined surfaces so that their combined axial length alters when they rotate relative to one another.
