An event list, which is required by a GUI apparatus (100), is reported to a service apparatus (300). The service apparatus (300) then imparts IDs to the event list and responds to the GUI apparatus (100). When an event occurs in the service apparatus (300), it is determined, in the service apparatus (300), on the basis of the event list reported from the GUI apparatus (100) whether to report the event. When the GUI apparatus reports an event to the service apparatus (300) and further if the corresponding ID exists, the GUI apparatus (100) transmits the ID instead of the event list.
