The stand comprises a hollow leg fitted on the cycle and closed at the free end by a flat component forming a foot. Inside the leg is a further component which can be displaced from outside by an operating device against the force of a spring so that it emerges immediately above the flat component sideways out of the opening in the leg to increase the standing surface. When the foot is relaxed the component is retracted into the hollow leg by the spring force.
