PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which isolates radioactive cesium strongly bound with an organic substance in an environmental medium and has the radioactive cesium easily be adsorbed by a conventionally known method in a method for collecting radioactive cesium from the environmental medium of soil or sludge contaminated with radioactive cesium.SOLUTION: A method is for collecting radioactive cesium from inside an environmental medium of soil or sludge contaminated with radioactive cesium. The method includes emitting in the water radioactive cesium bound with an organic substance in the environmental medium by adding water to the environmental medium to put the environmental medium in a suspension state, adding lactic acid to the environmental medium in the same state, and conducting anaerobic cultivation.
