The buffer (3) is mounted so that it swivels upwards near the buffer support (5). The swivel movement is actuated by the shelving storage and retrieval unit (1) itself when it is set to input and retrieve in the buffer area (11). The lifting motion is carried out by chain or cable pulley (6), pneumatic cylinder etc. The rear part of the end position buffer, when not swivelled out, rests against the stop piece (5) so that the link (4)is not subjected to impact forces. An extra buffer (10) acts as emergency stop for a low-speed unit, when the end position buffer is pulled up.
