The device has electrodes (5-7) for performing electrolysis. The device is operated in a continuous process. A measurement indicative for an ion concentration contained in delivered cleaning fluid, is performed in the course of delivering the cleaning fluid. One of the electrodes (6) is arranged in a dispensing nozzle (4). A conductivity of the cleaning fluid before achieving an electrolysis region, and a conductivity of the cleaning fluid including the ion content are measured during delivery of the fluid from the nozzle for checking the ion content. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning a cleaning fluid.
