PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantifying an absolute amount of a volatile organic compound like acrolein with high sensitivity.SOLUTION: The method for quantifying a volatile organic compound in a sample includes: a step (1) of mixing a volatile organic compound as a measurement object and oil and fat containing 1.5% by mass or less of linolenic acid to prepare a standard solution having at least a density of 2 or more; a step (2) of subjecting the standard solution to instrumental analysis to obtain an analysis result; a step (3) of using the obtained analysis result to create a calibration curve; a step (4) of subjecting the sample to instrumental analysis to obtain an analysis result; and a step (5) of using the calibration curve to obtain a concentration of the volatile organic compound from the obtained analysis result.
