PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a lithium manganese-containing oxide that, when used as a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, can improve charge/discharge characteristics in an initial state and after repeated charging/discharging in use at a high potential of 4.5 V or more.SOLUTION: LiMnOand at least one reducing agent are formed into a composite by being subjected to heat treatment at 400-600°C in an inert atmosphere, the reducing agent comprising a lithium-free oxide which reacts with LiMnOto produce a lithium-containing compound that has higher oxidation number than the original compound. |
