High voltage ignition cable

In the prodn. of a high voltage ignition cable, especially for automobiles, an insulation (11) of polyethylene is placed round the central conductor core (10). Before crosslinking in warm water, a skin layer (12) is fitted of an extruded polyolefin (copolymer) which has a peroxide cross linking action. When the polyethylene insulation (11) is crosslinked, the skin layer (12) is unaffected, but becomes crosslinked with the silicon rubber of the mantle (14) after it has been fitted.
