PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a vehicle, which can detect erroneous detection of a ground fault; and to provide a failure detection method.SOLUTION: A controller for a vehicle includes: a power converter 105 which converts power supplied via a pantograph 100 into drive power for allowing the vehicle to travel; a contactor 104 which is connected between the power converter 105 and the pantograph 100 and can interrupt the power supplied from the pantograph 100; a current detector 107 which is connected between a housing of the power converter 105 and a ground point 108 attached to the housing and detects a current; and current detector failure detection means 1000 which allows a simulated current to flow through a current detector operation check circuit 109 connected to the current detector 107. The current detector failure detection means opens or turns on the contactor 104 according to a result of the current detector failure detection means. |
