Feed device for mail, with conveyor roller, and mail-entry-slot

The mail entry-slot (1) is formed by a rotary driven conveyor roller (3) and an additional side (4) to the gap. The width and height of the slot (1) enable mail (2) to pass through the entry-slot. The additional side to the slot is in the form of another conveyor roller or a smooth, slippery preferably sloping surface. The outer casing of the conveyor roller(s) is made of preferably very soft material, such as foam. The conveyor roller(s) is/are mounted by means of an elastically tensioned or pre-tensioned spring. The mail entry slot is periodically opened and closed by a mechanism at the same time as the roller(s) move(s).
