PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire determination device capable of determining misfire using a quantified misfire determination condition, in a compression self-ignition type internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: The misfire determination device divides a reaction form of fuel injected into a cylinder into a vaporization reaction, a low temperature oxidation reaction, a thermal decomposition reaction, and a high temperature oxidation reaction, and then determines misfire of the internal combustion engine by using the misfire determination condition that is quantified based on each of the reaction forms and a gas temperature in the cylinder. The misfire determination device also identifies a cause of misfire occurrence using an oxygen density in the cylinder and a fuel density in the cylinder. Thus, the quantification of misfire determination condition simplifies an operation for deciding a misfire determination condition and reduces cost. |
