PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system which can reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: A relay station comprises: a power control unit which, when a relay station detects a number of mobile stations that performs communication with the relay station for performing relay communication with a radio base station becoming one or more and equal to or less than a predetermined number, performs one or more pieces of power control among turning-off operation, intermittent operation and power-saving operation on a transmission unit and a reception unit for communicating with the radio base station; and a handover request unit. The handover request unit requests the mobile station or the radio base station that is relayed by the relay station to perform handover when the power control unit is to perform power control. The mobile station and the radio base station which have received the request execute handover to another relay station and another radio base station. The power control unit executes the power control when the handover is completed. |
