Floating aerator having spray protection hood covering inlet and outlet

Sewage settling tanks or waste water treatment systems are aerated by a floating surface aerator with horizontal axis and having a spray protection hood extending parallel to the inlet and outlet directions and mfd. from a sound-absorbent material to reduce the noise from the aerator, with its lower edges dipping into the water being aerated. Pref. the material is glass fibre-reinforced synthetic resin. A geared drive is pref. provided for the aerator, which has a sound-absorbent cover which is part of the spray protection hood.
