PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tread that can improve high mileage, wet grip performance, and abrasion resistance in favorable balance; and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a tread includes: a rubber constituent; silica; and a silane coupling agent having a mercapto group. In the rubber composition, a content of a conjugated diene polymer having a constitutional unit based on a conjugated diene and a constitutional unit based on a compound shown by the formula (1) is at least 5 mass% in 100 mass% of the rubber constituent, and a content of the silica is 5-150 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the rubber constituent. In the formula, m denotes a number of 1-3; Rdenotes a hydrocarbyl group having a polymerizable carbon-carbon double; Rdenotes a hydrocarbylene group, when there are two or more R's, two or more R's may be identical or different; A denotes a substituted amino group, when there are two or more As, two or more As may be identical or different; Rdenotes a hydrocarbyl group, a substituted hydrocarbyl group or a substituted amino group, when there are two or more R's, two or more R's may be identical or different. |
