PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling the traction of an electric vehicle. SOLUTION: An encorder 17 connected to the rotor 13 of a motor 12 gives an encorder signal indicating the speed of the rotor and therefore the speed of the vehicle 11. Instead, it is possible to use a vehicle speed sensor 18 in place of the rotor encorder which gives a detected signal to be processed for controlling the traction of the vehicle. By monitoring the rate of change of the signal led from the encorder or the sensor, a controller 15 determines whether or not drive wheels 16 are spinning by the loss of the traction. If this condition is detected, the controller reduces the torque until the traction is restored. |
