PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing autofocus control of a contrast system at a high speed.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an optical system including a focus lens; an imaging unit that takes an image of an object formed by the optical system to generate image data; a drive unit that drives the focus lens in an optical axis direction of the optical system; and an autofocus adjustment unit that adjusts the image of the object formed on the imaging unit to a focused state by evaluating the image data generated by the imaging unit while controlling the drive unit to drive the focus lens. To adjust an image of the object to a new focused state from a previous focused state of the image of the object, the autofocus adjustment unit determines whether the imaging conditions are changed or not. When the imaging conditions are determined as changed, the autofocus adjustment unit drives the focus lens at a first speed, and when the imaging conditions are determined as not changed, the autofocus adjustment unit drives the focus lens at a second speed slower than the first speed. |
