The present invention relates to a geographic information system based on isometric dot graphics and a service method for the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a geographic information system based on isometric dot graphics comprises an IDG server; has a two-dimensional isometric map data, which has a bird view at a predetermined angle and corresponds to reality; and provides isometric map data with isometric dot graphic (IDG) geographic data on which structure data, in which structures including roads and buildings are represented by isometric dot graphics, are mapped. Thus, intuition and affinity can be maximized when compared to the existing map data shown in figure 1 by simplifying a real space featuring characters. In addition, by reflecting a real space, the functions of a map service provided through various user terminals such as conventional PCs and smartphones can be provided more effectively and is very suitable for representing additional service information such as public service information and advertising information. Furthermore, by representing the user terminals in an avatar form, utilization and scalability including user-to-user communication can be better improved.
