PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and highly-accurately determining whether a disease is chronic hepatitis B.SOLUTION: The method for detecting chronic hepatitis B comprises: measuring the quantity of IgG type anti-HBc antibodies in a sample separated from a patient; and detecting chronic hepatitis B when the measured quantity of IgG type anti-HBc antibodies is a predetermined cut-off value or more. The cut-off value can be 40 IU/mL or more, for example a value selected from 100 IU/mL to 200 IU/mL. The method enables detection of chronic hepatitis B based only on the quantity of IgG type anti-HBc antibodies without checking the total quantity of HBc antibodies including IgM type anti-HBc antibodies.
