PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device in which a wide field angle of an effective scanning area and miniaturization of a device are attained.SOLUTION: An optical scanning device includes a first scanning optical system and a second scanning optical system which are disposed on both sides with a rotational axis of an optical deflector disposed therebetween; light beam travelling to the first scanning optical system and light beam travelling to the second scanning optical system are deflected at different deflection reflection surfaces of a light deflector; the fist scanning optical system has a first synchronization detection part disposed at scanning start end of the first effective scanning area outside the first effective scanning area of the first scanning optical system; the second scanning optical system has a second synchronization detection part disposed at scanning start end of the second effective scanning area outside the second effective scanning area of the second scanning optical system; the first synchronization detection part is disposed on a light source side and detects a precedent light beam in a scanning direction among a plurality of light beams; the second synchronization detection part is disposed on the side opposite to a light source and detects subsequent light beam in the scanning direction among a plurality of light beams.
