PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting a metal contaminant in a product.SOLUTION: A device (1) for detecting a metal contaminant (M) in a product (P) by using a signal (S) received from a metal detector (2) based on a coil includes a calibration module (11) configured to determine a product specialization bow type detection envelope by receiving the signal (S) having a resistance component (R) and a reactive component (X) from the metal detector (2) for one or more samples in the product (P) during a calibration step. The device (1) further includes a detection module (12) configured to compare a vector expression of the signal (S) with the product specialization bow type detection envelope in a coordinate system for the resistance component and the reactive component, and when the vector expression of the signal (S) extends to the outside area of the bow type detection envelope, indicate the presence of the metal contaminant (M) in the product (P). |
