The device has a cylinder (3), a crankshaft and a control housing (2) that is mounted to a head-side of the cylinder of a combustion engine (1). An inlet valve opens a control shaft along a rotational direction at a defined angle behind a center position of the control shaft, and closes the shaft at another defined angle that is perfectly symmetrical to the former angle, after passing through a middle position of the shaft. Speed of the shaft corresponds to half speed of the crankshaft. A cyclically working medium passes over a passage into a working space of the engine.
