摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent peeling resistance and chipping resistance in high speed intermittent cutting.SOLUTION: The surface-coated cutting tool is formed by vapor-depositing the hard coating layer having a lower layer composed of a Ti compound layer and having an upper layer composed of an α type AlOlayer, and when measuring an inclination formed by a normal of a (0001) surface of an AlOcrystal grain to the normal of the surface of a tool base body, by using a field emission type scanning electron microscope and an electron beam backscattering diffraction device on an AlOcrystal grain in the vicinity of an interface with the lower layer, a measured inclination falling within a range of 0-45 degrees among the measured inclinations is divided with every pitch of a 0.25 degree, and when expressing by an inclination frequency distribution graph of totalizing a frequency of existing in each division, the total of the frequency of the ALOcrystal grain falling within a range of 25-35 degrees is 30-70%, and when similarly measuring the inclination on the AlOcrystal grain of the whole upper layer, the total of the frequency of the AlOcrystal grain having the inclination falling within a range of 0-10 degree is 60% or more.
