PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for automatic transmission which controls shift with high precision even when a value of line pressure fluctuates. SOLUTION: When a clutch plate 1 and a bulkhead plate 2 are transferred from a release condition to an engagement condition, line pressure as original pressure may be reduced by filling hydraulic oil into a piston chamber 5 rapidly when a hydraulic pump 20 rotates at low speed. By detecting the number of revolutions of the hydraulic pump 20 and calculating line pressure which is reduced based on the number of revolutions thereof and a flow rate of consumption hydraulic oil which is filled in the piston chamber 5, it is possible to control shift with high precision in accordance with line pressure which is reduced.
