The method involves arranging a serving and display element (4) at a steering lever (16). Another serving and display element (6) is arranged at a steering wheel (18) of a motor vehicle in which a control command of a user is detected such that a graphical object (8) is transferred to one of the two serving and display elements according to the other serving and display element. The control command is detected over a key i.e. camera or capacitive sensor (20). The graphical object is symbolized as a function of the motor vehicle, where the function is activated by contacting graphical object. An independent claim is also included for a system for transferring a graphical object between two operating and display elements in a display system of a motor vehicle.
