The system (L) has a steering angle sensor (Salpha) detecting a steering angle of impellers (Rv) of a front axle (Av) of a vehicle (F). A vehicle speed sensor (Sv) detects a driving speed (v) of the vehicle. A controller (C) determines a caster angle (beta) of the impellers of a follower axis (An) of the vehicle from the steering angle and the speed. A working cylinder (Z) delivers hydraulic fluid through a central bore (B), so that a piston (K) is movably floated in a center position (G) in which the follower axis of the impellers is blocked in a straight position and the bore is closed. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing steering wheels of a follower axis of a vehicle.
