PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize cutting performance of a cutting tool for precision cutting by reducing an area to be polished and ground in manufacturing the tool.SOLUTION: A rake face 4, a flank 5 and a cutting edge 6 are provided in a part made of a high hardness material of a cutting tool in which at least a part associated with cutting is made of a high hardness material such as a diamond. When a region along the cutting edge 6 of the rake face 4 is denoted as A and a region other than the region A of the rake face is denoted as B, surface roughness of the region A is controlled lower than surface roughness of the region B and the region B is recessed from the position of the region A.
