TRANSMISSION DEVICE AND COMMUNICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance communication between devices connected by using an HDMI interface.SOLUTION: A signal transmitter transmits a video signal to external equipment through an HDM cable by using a differential signal. A communication unit communicates with the external equipment through a bidirectional communication path constructed by a reserve line and an HPD line contained in the HDMI cable. The HPD line has a function of receiving a notification of a connection state from the external equipment based on DC bias potential. For example, the communication unit has a transmission circuit and a reception circuit which are commonly connected to the bidirectional communication path, and obtains a reception signal by subtracting a transmission signal input to the transmission circuit from an output signal of the reception circuit.
