PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus which are capable of preventing the occurrence of sleeve memory.SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a developing roller 210 which includes a rotatable developing sleeve 210A and a plurality of magnetic poles including a first magnetic pole (N3) fixed in the developing sleeve 210A so as to face a position for developer supply to the developing sleeve 210A and a second magnetic pole (N4) which forms a repulsive magnetic field between itself and the first magnetic pole (N3) and has the same polarity as the first magnetic pole (N3); and a magnet 340 (magnetic brush forming part) which is provided with a magnetic pole (S) having a polarity opposite to that of the first magnetic pole (N3) or the second magnetic pole (N4), in a position facing an outer peripheral surface of the developing sleeve 210A between the first magnetic pole (N3) and the second magnetic pole (N4) and forms a magnetic brush 370 rubbing the outer peripheral surface of the developing sleeve 210A. Therefore, toner 400 deposited on the surface of the developing sleeve 210A is physically scraped by the magnetic brush 370. |
