PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic recording device where the burden of the cleaning operation of a user is reduced by suppressing the occurrence of drop-out while the cleaning operation of an electrostatic recording head is remarkably reduced. SOLUTION: A solvent tray 52, an absorbing body 53, solvent 54 and a solvent quantity sensor 55 are provided in the vicinity of the recording medium 1 of the electrostatic recording head 2 on the side of an upper process, and the solvent 54 stored on the solvent tray 52 is absorbed by the absorbing body 53 and is vaporized from its surface, so that the recording surface of the recording medium 1 is provided with the solvent vaporized 51. Thus, the recording medium is made wet by vaporizing the solvent having the same components as that of liquid toner and applying it to the recording medium just before an electrostatic latent image is formed on the recording medium 1, so that discharge between electrodes is accurately performed, and the drop-out is suppressed even though cleaning is not performed. |
