The present invention relates to a cylinder liner (1) from gray iron for integrally casting into an engine block (4) of an internal combustion engine (10), means (3) for reinforcing the connection of the cylinder liner (1) to the casting material of the engine block (4) being arranged at least in regions of an outer peripheral surface (2), the means being a wire mesh or wire grating that does not melt open when the engine block (4) is cast. The invention is characterized in that the means (3) and the cylinder liner (1) are welded together at least in regions. This allows a particularly robust and solid connection of the cylinder liner (1) to the engine block (4). |
