The present invention provides a rotary electric machine and a method for manufacturing the rotary electric machine that allow coil ends to be made smaller, welding sections to be reduced, and the length of a conductor wire that constitutes a winding wire to be reduced in order to reduce the resistance, size, and cost of an armature winding wire. Each stator winding wire is constructed by installing one winding wire body in each of a pair of slots that are formed on a stator core at positions apart from each other with a predetermined number of slots therebetween, said winding wire body being formed into a spiral shape by winding an insulation-coated continuous conductor wire having no connected section for m times (wherein m is a natural number equal to or larger than 2) and by connecting the ends of straight sections together by means of coil ends. The coil ends have a top section, which is displaced by a predetermined amount in the radial direction, at substantially the center part between the connected straight sections, the amount of said displacement in the radial direction at the top section being a x d (wherein a represents a natural number between 1 and (m - 1), and d represents the thickness of the straight section housed inside the slot). A stator core is formed into an annular shape by arranging core blocks, each of which comprising a core back section and a tooth, in the circumferential direction.
