The present invention relates to a light emitting diode in which a conductive barrier layer covering a reflective metal layer is defined with a protective insulator film and a manufacturing method thereof. The reflective patterns including the reflective metal layer on a light-emitting structure in which a first and a second semiconductor layers as well as the conductive barrier layer are formed. The conductive barrier layer prevents the diffusion of the reflective metal layer. It is extended to the protective insulator film which is recessed in the manufacturing process at a lower part of a photoresist pattern of the overhang structure and is the diffusion is formed. Therefore, the phenomenon of forming the reflective metal layer which is connected to a sidewall of the overhang structure and the forming of the sidewall are prevented. Through the invention, various types of light emitting diode modules may be formed.
