The system has a gripping element (10) fastened to a bicycle handlebar and comprising a supporting element (14), where gripping width of the element is smaller than 110 mm. An operating element (12) is connected to the gripping element in a longitudinal direction. The operating element has an electrical switch (24) for controlling an electrical assisting motor. The gripping and operating elements comprise respective position elements that act together. The switch is designed as a rocker switch. A push-button is arranged in a switching recess.
