The present invention a food serving plate for mounting cakes, pastries, dessert items, and the like, comprises a planar plate having a top side for receiving and mounting cakes thereon and a bottom side. The planar plate includes apertures defined in the pl anar plate dimensioned and adapted to permit passageway of surprises there through su ch as coins, candies and like objects through the bottom surface of a cake, and into t he cake with the cake mounted on the serving means, such that the presence of the surpri ses in the cake is unnoticeable when the cake is presented on the serving means The food se rving plate also includes thin planar covers moveable between an open position and a c losed position, such that in the open position surprises can pass through the aperture s, and in the closed position the cover prevents cake or surprises in the cake from passin g through the apertures.
