METHOD FOR CONTROLLING OPERATION OF SUPERCONDUCTING COIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method by which a cryogenic refrigenerator- conductively cooled superconducting coil using an oxide high-temperature superconducting material can be operated stably. SOLUTION: In a method for controlling the operation of a superconducting coil, thermal resistance between a refrigerator and a superconducting coil connected to the cooling stage of the refrigerator is found. Then the effective cooling curve showing the relation between the temperature and calorific value is found from the rated cooling power of the refrigerating and the thermal resistance. The operation of the superconducting coil, which is energized while the coil is cooled by means of the refrigerating machine is controlled so as that calorific value of the superconducting coil at a prescribed temperature does not exceed the effective cooling curve.
