PURPOSE: A method for preventing damage to trees due to chloride-based deicing chemicals is provided to simply and cheaply prevent damage to trees. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing damage to trees due to chloride-based deicing chemicals comprises a step of coating the surface of soil covering trees with a functional material, water, a water evaporation inhibitor, one or more amino acids, and one or more minerals by spraying. The amino acids are selected from a group consisting of alanine, glutamic acid, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, methionine, phenylalanine, serinine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. The minerals are selected from a group consisting of calcium, chloride, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur, and zirconium. The functional material contains 20-40 wt% of arabinose, 30-50 wt% of galactose, 10-30 wt% of glucuronic acid, and 5-15 wt% of rhamnose.
