The method involves conducting supply air (10) i.e. ambient air, through a vaporizer (2). Heat energy is delivered to a refrigerant by the supply air within the vaporizer. The vaporized refrigerant is compressed by a compressor (3), and the compressed refrigerant is condensed within a condenser (4). The heat energy is delivered at rinsing water. Condensate is formed within the vaporizer and collected. The collected condensate is transmitted to a rinsing chamber of a dishwasher. An amount of the collected condensate and/or an amount of transmitted condensate are measured. An independent claim is also included for a dishwasher.
