The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for driving a connector for a battery of an electric vehicle. The method for driving the connector for the battery of the electric vehicle according to the present invention, so as to assemble or separate a battery side connector with or from an electric vehicle side connector, comprises steps of: a controller determining whether an assembling or separating signal an electric vehicle side connector is inputted from a vehicle control unit (VCU); if the assembling or separating signal is inputted, the driver being driven; the driver moving the electric vehicle side connector to assemble or separate the electric vehicle side connector with or from the battery side connector; an operation sensing part determining whether the electric vehicle side connector is normally assembled with or separated from the battery side connector according to the movement of the electric vehicle side connector; and if the controller receives a normal assembling or separating signal from the operation sensing part, the controller transmitting an assembling or separating completion signal of the electric vehicle side connector to the VCU.
