PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve various characteristics such as corrosion resistance, flawing resistance or the like in a metallic sheet by forming an organic-inorganic composite film using an organic resin, an Si inorganic compd. and an Li inorganic compd. as structural components and contg. Si and Li in a specified ratio on the surface of a metallic sheet or a plated metallic sheet. SOLUTION: A metallic sheet or a plated metallic sheet is directly coated with a treating soln. contg. an Si inorganic compd. and an Li inorganic compd. so as to satisfy 36 to 66% Si/Li (molar ratio) and moreover contg. an organic resin binder, which is thereafter dried to form a surface treated film satisfying 36 to 66 Si/Li ratio, contg. about >=8% organic resin and substantially contg. no Cr. This film is moreover incorporated with a silane coupling agent and a solid lubricant at need. Furthermore, the coating weight of the film is preferably controlled to 0.02 to 0.6 g/m2 expressed in terms of Si, and, if required, by applying resin coating contg. 3 to 30% SiO2 on the film, its fingerpoint resistance, coating suitability or the like can be improved.
