The air supply can be steplessly set between circulating air and fresh air supply. By measuring the oxygen concentration using an oxygen sensor proximate to the head of the driver, the setting to circulating air is only possible as long as the oxygen concentration does not reduce beyond a critical value, as the driver is warned when this threshold is passed. The warning my be audible or visual.
