PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize excellent safety by providing a means for preventing scattering of the content of a battery between a power generating element and a rupture valve inner surface facing to the power generating element. SOLUTION: A power generating element 20 and a positive and a negative terminals to be connected to electrodes of the power generating element 20 are housed in an elliptic cylindrical battery case main body 1 having a bottom and made of aluminum or the aluminum alloy, and thereafter, an elliptic plate- like battery case lid 2 made of aluminum or the aluminum alloy is fitted on an upper end opening part of the battery case main body 1, and the periphery is sealed for fixation by welding. The battery case lid 2 is provided with a rupture valve 5 made of the aluminum alloy foil. A grid body made of polyimide is provided as a means for preventing scattering of the content of the battery in a space between the inside surface of the battery case lid 2 and the power generating element 20 so as to prevent the scattering of the content outside of the battery from the broken rupture valve 5. The means 6 for preventing scattering of the content of the battery may well be formed into the net-like or formed with circular through holes.
